Importing contacts from a CSV
Migrate your existing contact list from Excel, Google Contacts, HubSpot, or any CRM in a couple of minutes — with field mapping and duplicate detection.
Most teams arrive at Mewayz with contacts already living in another tool. The CSV importer maps your spreadsheet columns to Mewayz fields, detects duplicates, and lets you add tags during import for instant segmentation.
Prepare your CSV
- Make sure column headers are descriptive (e.g. 'First Name', 'Email', 'Company').
- Each contact must have at least a name OR an email — rows with neither are skipped.
- Use ISO date format (YYYY-MM-DD) for any date fields.
- Save as .csv (UTF-8) — Excel: File → Save As → CSV UTF-8.
Run the import
- Open CRM → Contacts → Import.
- Upload your CSV. Mewayz previews the first 5 rows.
- Map each spreadsheet column to a Mewayz field. Skip any column you don't want.
- Choose duplicate handling — Skip, Update existing, or Create both.
- Optionally tag every imported contact (e.g. 'Imported May 2026').
- Hit Import. We process up to 50,000 rows per file; larger lists split automatically.
Importing from HubSpot? Their default export uses the field name 'Email' — that maps cleanly. Their 'Lifecycle Stage' field is best mapped to a Mewayz tag, not a custom field, so it stays filterable.
